WHAT iF…

Today I decided I am going to walk 3 miles. So I set up my tracking app and I start. I started to think about what I accomplished today since I woke up. So far I got the kids off to school, I cleaned around the house, completed 4 projects, walked 3.16 miles and now I am writing this post.

Today I woke up at 3:45 am. My alarm went off at 4, I turned it off and went back to sleep. Second alarm went off at 5 am and I got my butt out of bed. So from 5am to 9am, I would say today has been pretty successful so far.

Here is the problem. What if I had started my day when that first alarm went off [my regular wake up time]? What could I have accomplished within that extra hour today? Could that hour have been the hour that changed my life forever? I’ll never know and I can’t get that time back. Now I am stuck thinking “What if”.

The dreaded WHAT IF!

They’re everywhere. They’re all around us. Every person around you has them. Some people even pass their what if’s onto you. How many what if’s are you carrying on your back? When you look at your life, you will find plenty of “what if’s”. The truth is “what if’s” are missed opportunities that we wished we would have taken advantage of. We are left with a feeling of regret when thinking of them.

For instance, last week my son tried yogurt with granola. This seems so insignificant but most children refuse to try anything new when it comes to food [me too!]. He discovered he liked it. So I asked him what if you never tried it? He looked at me and replied, “I’m glad I tried, you should try it”.

So what if I try yogurt? Regardless if I do or don’t like it, the act of trying is most important. The way to get rid of the “what if’s” is to challenge yourself to be different. Don’t be the average YOU.

What if you never change?
